Sharing qurbani meat: the three-part sunnah

Qurbani is about seeking Allah's pleasure, and that intention should carry through to how the meat is shared.

Three shares

1. One share for your own household.
2. One share for relatives and neighbours.
3. One share for the poor and needy.

The division is recommended, not required. A family in greater need may keep more.

Keep in mind

• The butcher's wage cannot be paid in meat or hide.
• Money from selling the hide belongs to the poor, so give it away.
