Winter giving: what actually helps

Winter reaches the northern districts early and leaves late. Many people give old clothes or blankets. A few points make that gift more useful.

What is needed most

  • Heavy blankets or quilts — the night cold is the hardest part.
  • Sweaters, caps and socks for children and older people.
  • Clean, wearable clothing — torn clothes become a burden.

Timing matters

Given before the cold sets in, warm clothing serves a whole season. Given late, half the winter has already passed.

Why safe water comes first

Contaminated water spreads disease. Testing water quality before installing a tube well matters.
